BGE Meeting on Upgrade Project near Route 40 East

BGE is embarking on a large transmission upgrade project called BGE Brandon Shores Mitigation.

The project is necessary due to the announced retirement of Talen Energy’s Brandon Shores Generating Station, a significant coal-fired electric power plant located in Northern Anne Arundel County.

As part this project BGE is upgrading several existing BGE substations, constructing one new substation in both Baltimore County and Anne Arundel County and modifying approximately thirty- five miles of transmission lines on existing BGE rights-of-way between the Pennsylvania border and southern Baltimore County. The transmision lines are on the Route 40 corridor in White Marsh, and Middle River.

BGE will host a Brandon Shores Reliability Mitigation Program Virtual Open House on Thursday April 11 from 6 – 8 p.m. where the public can learn more about this program, ask questions, view project plans, talk with the project team, and more.
