Chesapeake High School Teacher Honored by Arc Baltimore

The Arc Baltimore announced that Tara Wrightson of Chesapeake High School in Essex was named the 2004 Annual Award winner forĀ  for School Inclusion. They released the following statement about Wrightson.

“Tara Wrightson, Chesapeake High School’s FALS teacher, goes beyond the call of duty to advocate for her students. Alongside her teaching responsibilities, she coaches Allied Soccer and Softball, ensuring their participation in pep rallies and announcements.

“Ms. Wrightson also spearheads the Best Buddies program, fostering peer advocacy and inclusive relationships among students. She secured a paid aide for two students to attend Prom and Homecoming together despite requiring 1:1 support,” the statement said.

“Additionally, she actively supports a student’s involvement in the school play, arranging backstage assistance during rehearsals and performances. Through her relentless advocacy, Ms. Wrightson ensures her students’ inclusion in all desired activities, preparing them for meaningful community engagement both during and after their school years.”
