The 2024 U.S. News & World Report’s Best High Schools list was released with an Essex school was named best in Maryland and five other eastern Baltimore County high schools ranked in the top 170 statewide.
Eastern Technical High School, located at in Essex, was ranked number one in Maryland and 33rd nationally.
Eastern Tech takes the top spot in the state after finishing with a number two ranking last year.
Perry Hall High School jumped from being ranked #148 in the state to a current ranking of #80 in Maryland.
Sparrows Point High also saw improvement as they are ranked #102 in Maryland and being #159 in 2023.
The list has new additions from local high schools.
Patapsco High #126, Kenwood High #136, and Chesapeake High – #170 all join the list of best Maryland schools after being unranked in 2023.
Overall five BCPS schools placed among the top 30 high schools in the state, 14 among the top 150.
“We are proud, as always, of the achievements of the students and staff of our high schools,” said BCPS Superintendent Dr. Myriam Rogers.
“We are especially pleased this year to see so many of our schools rise in the U.S. News & World Report rankings. We celebrate these results while we continue working to ensure that all our students are learning and growing at schools that are the best in Maryland and the nation.”
