The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration has started a new traffic patterns in Sparrows Point at the MD 151 (Sparrows Point Boulevard) / Wharf Road (MD 151B) interchange on Tuesday, Sept. 26.
After 9 a.m. Tuesday, the State Highway Administration reopened the section of southbound Wharf Road between the left ramp to southbound MD 151 and south of the MD 151 bridge over Wharf Road.
The left-turn ramp from southbound MD 151 to Wharf Road will be permanently closed. All motorists on southbound MD 151 will now turn right to reach southbound and northbound Wharf Road.
This traffic shift is another phase of this project to reconstruct three bridges at the MD 151 (Sparrows Point Boulevard) and MD 151B (Wharf Rd.) interchange. Weather permitting, the project will be complete spring 2024. Learn more about the interchange project here.
The State Highway Administration understands roadwork can be an inconvenience but is necessary to maintain a safe and reliable highway system.
Drivers are asked to slow down in the work zone for the safety of all drivers and the crews working to improve our roadways.
