Chesapeake Shamrock 5K Run and Walk Moves to Middle River

Chesapeake Shamrock 5K Fun Run and Walk is a “Chesapeake Road Runners” charity event returns for its fourth year this Saturday, March 16 from 8 a.m. – noon at Gunpowder Falls State Park, Graces Quarters Road in Chase.

The event is held by the Chesapeake Bay Association, Inc. All proceeds raised go towards protecting the Chesapeake Bay and it’s tributaries on community clean-up programs to keep trash out of the Bay.

Frank Neighoff is the president of Chesapeake Bay Association, Inc. He explained the race was previously held in Millers Island for three years but it caused issues in that community.

The residential roads were closed which caused issues with deliveries. The race also presented safety concerns for runners as there was a U turn on the course.

That resulted in moving the race to Gunpowder Falls State Park.

“Now we’re off main roads, on private property and running and walking all in one direction. It is safer and we are still on the Bay,” Neighoff told Eastcountytimes.com

Registration takes place from 8 to 8:55 a.m. and the walk/run begins at 9 a.m.

Register as an individual or bring a team of friends, family and co-workers to run, walk, or stroll, and spread the good cheer along the beautiful Chesapeake Bay.
