Tech & Perry Hall Seek State Titles as Softball Playoffs Begin

The MPSSAA state softball playoffs begin this week and Perry Hall and Eastern Tech both have a chance to win state titles in their respective classifications.  Eastern Tech is ranked 7th in the Baltimore Sun poll and Perry Hall is just ranked outside the top 15 in that poll.

Here is a look at all the playoff teams from eastern Baltimore County. All local teams are in the playoffs, but Chesapeake was not listed as a playoff team.

2A

Eastern Tech went 13-3 on the year and will give the number one seed in the north region. The Mavericks are looking for their first state title since 2013. Tech has a double bye. Third seeded Sparrows Point will play at 2 Overlea on Monday, May 15 and the winner of that game will play at Eastern Tech on Wednesday, May 17.

3A

Kenwood is the number one seed in the 3A North Region and Patapsco is the second seed in that region. Both schools have first round byes. Kenwood will host the winner of Edgewood-Bel Air and Patapsco will host Towson-Aberdeen. Both of those games will be played at on Monday, May 15 at 4 p.m. Both Kenwood and Patapsco could meet in the North Regional Final on Wednesday, May 17.

4A

Perry Hall is the top seed in the north region and receives a bye. The Gators went 15-1 on the year. According to MPSSAA.org, Perry Hall only lost to Bel Air. They will host the winner of Dundalk-Western on May 15 in Perry Hall. The fourth seeded Owls host fifth seeded Western on Thursday, May 11 at 4 p.m. Parkville is the sixth seed in this region and plays at Catonsville on Thursday at 4 p.m. If the Knights can win that game, they would advance to play Dulaney in the second round next Monday.
