Baltimore County Police Department are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Thursday, May 15 in Essex
Officer responded to a call for a missing “suicidal subject.” at 9:30 p.m.
When officers located the subject, in the 1000 block of Pine Road, he was armed with a knife. Despite officers orders to drop the weapon, the subject refused to comply.
While attempting to gain compliance, one officer discharged his firearm, striking the armed subject.
The subject was later transported to an area hospital for treatment.
The investigation into this incident is being conducted by the Baltimore County Police Department.
Per Departmental policy, the officer who discharged his firearm is on administrative leave.
The police said it will provide additional information as it becomes available.
