The win gives Eastern Tech the 2A 1 North Regional Title and sends the Mavericks to the 2A State Quarterfinals.

The game was mostly a pitchers duel as Eastern Tech’s Brandon Moore and Sparrows Point’s Josh Mason had strong performances.

Mason had nine strikes out and three innings where he only faced three Tech batters.

Pointer pitcher Josh Mason had nine strikeouts on the afternoon.

Eastern Tech finally got on the board to tie the game 1-1 in the bottom of the fifth.

Shortstop Rehhaan Morton walked and later scored when Moore reached base on an error.

Morton, who was at second, advanced to third. He tried to score but was caught in a rundown. He got back safely to third and scored after another Pointer error on the rundown.

Then Strittmatter advances to second after a Rob Peterson walk and scored from second after the Noyes hit.

Sparrows Point was able to get to Moore early in the first inning, but that’s all the scoring they did for the game.

Brayden Lewis lined a two-out base hit and scored the only Pointer run after Sparrows Point catcher Mason Fishpaugh’s double to put his team up 1-0.

Mason Fishpaugh had a double and the only Pointer RBI.

Moore settled down and retired 10 straight Pointer batters. The Maverick senior, who is attending York College next year,
was the winning pitcher and had three strikeouts.

Senior Brandon Moore was the winning pitcher for Eastern Tech.

Sparrows Point had another opportunity in the sixth when Brayden Wallace lead off with a hit, stole second but was thrown out at third by Maverick catcher Paul Hester.

Moore also got defensive help as centerfielder Jonah Scott caught all three outs in the fourth inning, including a diving catch to prevent an extra basehit.

With rainouts across the state, the Mavericks will have to wait to learn their next opponent and date.

Parkville is scheduled to play Kenwood in the 4A North I Regional Finals on Thursday.
