Fort Howard Post Office Temporarily Remains Open for 30 Days

Mutiple news outlets have reported that The Fort Howard Post Office will remain open for another 30 days.

The Fort Howard Post Office, located 9200 Howard Avenue in Fort Howard, was scheduled to close on Friday. Sept. 15 due to a termination of its current lease.

Delegate Bob Long confirmed the extension.

“I spoke to Congress Mfume office regarding the Ft. Howard Post Office. The lease has extended an additional 30 days,” Long wrote on his social media page.

This original announcement angered many Fort Howard residents that would have been sent to the Dundalk Post Office at 44 Shipping Place, Dundalk, MD 21222, an eight-mile drive from Fort Howard.

According to SDAT records, Kathleeen M. Labuda is listed as one of the trustees of the property. She told WJZ-TV that she trying to negotiate with the Postal Service about extending the lease long-term.

There were no details on the plan after the 30-day lease expired.
