Delegate Bob Long: “Fort Howard Post Office Update”

-The following article was submitted by Delegate Bob Long with an update on the Fort Howard Post Office and their 30-day lease extension-

We have received good news that the Fort Howard Post Office will temporarily remain open for at least 30 days, through October 14th.

We can’t have the residents of Fort Howard traveling all the way to Dundalk daily to get their mail.

The United States Postal Service needs to address this problem now. After talking with Fort Howard residents, the consensus was to have their mail delivered to their homes. Fort Howard residents even signed a petition for home deliveries.

I was informed that the United States Postal Service was starting a new greener program to help with global warming. I had suggested using an electric vehicle or a gasoline vehicle to deliver the mail to Fort Howard (to be greener) instead of having all the residents make the round trip to the Dundalk Post Office.

I have been working closely with Congressman Mfume’s office addressing this issue.
