Sparrows Point HS Student Named Mildred Murray Award Winner

Liv Gardner of Sparrows Point High School has been named the female student athlete winner of the Mildred Murray Award.

She wins a $10,000 scholarship. Winners selected are multi-sports athletes at the top of their academic class as well as a leader and top contributor on the field, in the classroom and in the community.

She led the Pointers to a girls soccer state title in November.

Sparrows Point High Athletics released a statement praising Gardner’ on her award on their Instagram page.

“PROUD is an understatement. We live in a county of almost a million residents. BCPS is 22nd largest school system in the country. Each year, they pick ONE girl and ONE boy, who are THE best of the best,” the statement said.

“Top of your class academically and talented on the field. Involved in the community, and a leader in your school’s clubs and organizations. This is a special one. Tip of the cap, Liv. You did it right. Go get ‘em at Shepherd.”
