Baltimore County Police Remember Officer Caprio

Officers with the Baltimore County Police Department will wear mourning bands on their badges Tuesday in memory of Officer Amy Sorrells Caprio.

On May 21, 2018, Officer Caprio, 29, responded to a call regarding a suspicious vehicle in the Perry Hall area.

A second call confirmed that a home was being burglarized by four suspects associated with the suspicious vehicle, which was later determined to be a stolen.

When Officer Caprio arrived on scene, she exited her vehicle and ordered the driver to exit the Jeep Wrangler.

The driver accelerated and fatally struck Officer Caprio.

At the time of her death, Officer Caprio was assigned to Precinct 8 – Parkville. She had been a member of the Department for nearly four years.

Officer Amy Caprio’s name, along with the names of other fallen heroes, is inscribed on a monument at Patriot Plaza in Towson.
