Essex officers responded to a Sunday crash that occurred in the 200 block of Back River Neck Road in Essex.
A preliminary investigation determined a 2016 Toyota Corolla was traveling southbound on Back River Neck Road when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a pole around 7 a.m.
The driver, 64-year-old Barry Stokes, was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Detectives assigned to the Baltimore County Crash Team continue to investigate this case.
