BCPS Superintendent Dr. Myriam Rogers and Baltimore County Executive Johnny
Olszewski joined members of the Board of Education of Baltimore County and
the Baltimore County delegation in officially cutting the ribbon on the new Red
House Run Elementary School in Rosedale.

The ceremony was held on Thursday afternoon.

The $66.2 million project, located on 1717 Weyburn Road, replaces the old school
building and expands the school’s state-rated capacity from 486 seats to 775.

The new building, at 107,774 square feet, is almost twice the size of the former
building, which was 58,495 square feet. Designed to relieve overcrowding and to
provide a modern learning center for the community, the new school features 44
classrooms, contains regional education programs such as Early Childhood
Learning, and meets LEED Silver standards for sustainability.

The new Red House Run Elementary School building formally opened to students in January.
