Sparrows Point High School’s baseball season came to an end as the Pointers were defeated by Parkside of Salisbury in the 2A State Semifinals 7 to 0. The game was played on Tuesday evening in Waldorf.
The Pointers started off the playoffs with a 4 to 1 win over East County rivals Eastern Tech in the first round. Then Sparrows Point destroyed Overlea 23 to 0 and Carver Tech 21 to 0 in the next two rounds.
The highlight of the season was in the Regional Finals when the Pointers upset defending state champion Glenelg 7 to 3.
According to the MPSSAA website, the Pointers made it to the state title game in 2021 and won their only state title in 1979.
