Week 1 Football Starts with Big Road Wins

The high school football season kicked off in eastern Baltimore County on Friday and Saturday. There were some big road wins by Perry Hall, Parkville and Kenwood. Sparrows Point, Dundalk and Overlea started off at home with victories.

Perry Hall 46 Manchester 7

The Gators got their season off to a great start by destroying Manchester of Carroll County 46 to 7. Perry Hall plays at Western Tech and Franklin before a huge showdown at Dundalk on Sept. 22

Dundalk 10 Crafton 7
Kicker Jason Keener kicked a 23-yard game-winning field goal with over nine minutes left to lift the Owls to a 10 to 7 win over Crafton. Dundalk is at New Town this Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

Loch Raven 56 Eastern Tech 6
Loch Raven went into Essex and spoiled the Mavericks’ home opener 56 to 6. Eastern Tech will try to bounce back at home against Sparrows Point on Friday.

Overlea 24 Patapsco 6
Overlea started off the season on the right foot by defeating Patapsco 24 to 6. The Falcons look to go 2-0 against state powerhouse Franklin and the Patriots will try to win their first game against Parkville at CCBC Dundalk on Friday.

Parkville 19 Woodlawn 8
After allowing an opening touchdown, the Knights scored 19 unanswered points to defeat Woodlawn. Parkville is technically hosting Patapsco this Friday, but the game is being played at CCBC since the Parkville field is having turf installed.

Sparrows Point 29 Towson 6
Sparrows Point was one of the surprise teams of 2022 and they look to go 2-0 at Eastern Tech this Friday after a dominating win over Towson.

Kenwood 14 Parkdale 8
The Bluebird got off to a 1-0 start as the team traveled down to Prince George’s County and defeated Parkdale 14 to 8. Kenwood will host Dulaney this Friday night.

Carver 22 Chesapeake 6
The Bayhawks fell short in their first game of the season by falling to Carver of Baltimore City 22 to 6. Chesapeake plays on the road again this week and will look for its first win against Catonsville.
