No Charges Filed in Officer Involved Shooting in Dundalk

The Office of the Maryland Attorney General announced that no charges will be filed against any police officers after a Dundalk man was fatally shot by police in May 2025 on North Boundary Road.

Attorney General Anthony G. Brown announced his decision not to seek charges in the Sunday, May 18, 2025 fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred in the Dundalk, Baltimore County, Maryland.

On May 18, 2025, at approximately 7:30 p.m., two officers with the Baltimore County Police Department (“BCPD”) responded to a 911 call reporting a man experiencing a mental health crisis in his house located in the 8200 block of North Boundary Road in Dundalk.

Upon arrival, one of the officers contacted the 911 caller and walked to the alley behind the residence while the other officer remained at the front door.

The officer in the alley encountered a man, later identified as Glenn Pettie, Jr., who matched the description given to 911.

Pettie fired a handgun at the officer prompting an exchange of gunfire between the officer and Pettie. Pettie was wounded by gunfire.

Officers rendered medical aid until emergency medical services (“EMS”) arrived on scene and transported Pettie to an area hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead a short time later. Neither officer was injured.

The Attorney General’s Independent Investigations Division (IID) began investigating the fatal officer-involved shooting on Sunday, May 18, 2025, and concluded its investigation on Tuesday, December 2, 2025.

After completing its investigation and evaluating all the available evidence, the Office of the Attorney General has determined that the subject officer did not commit a crime under Maryland law.

Accordingly, the Attorney General has declined to prosecute any of the officers in this case.
