The Heritage Society of Essex and Middle River, Inc. reported a vehicle accident damaged their building on Friday night. The museum is set to hold their annual tree lighting on Dec. 2.

Here is a statement from the museum about the crash and the damage.

“This evening, a driver lost control of their vehicle on Eastern Boulevard and jumped onto the sidewalk in front of the Museum.

The truck knocked down our light pole and severely damaged our historic railing and awning framing. We are thankful no one was hurt, and our 103-year-old building remains stable. We are also thankful to our first responders from the Essex Precinct who remained on scene with us until the trucks were towed and BGE left the scene.

Sadly this has happened just weeks before our Community Tree Lighting. Unfortunate events like this bring a community together. Now more than ever, your donations can make an impact. Consider supporting your local Essex Museum – sponsorships are available, message us for details!”
