Public workshop set for Martin Boulevard improvements

The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will host a public informational workshop, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, to provide information and gather community input on proposed pedestrian safety improvements along the MD 700 (Martin Boulevard) corridor from US 40 (Pulaski Highway) to MD 150 (Eastern Boulevard) in Middle River.

The workshop will be held at the Middle River Recreation and Activity Center, 9702 Community Drive, Middle River.

The State Highway Administration’s Pedestrian Safety Action Plan, published in May 2023, identifies areas of need and prioritizes corridors for pedestrian and bicycle safety projects.

Safety improvements are planned for the MD 700 corridor in Baltimore County as part of the State Highway Administration’s commitment to a safe and accessible transportation network for all users, including pedestrians and bicyclists.

At this informational workshop, State Highway Administration staff will be available to discuss project proposals.

There will be no formal presentation. Attendees may arrive at any time during the workshop to view displays, ask questions and provide feedback. Materials will also be posted on the MD 700 Project Portal page.

Those requiring assistance to participate in the workshop, such as those seeking an interpreter for hearing/speech difficulties or assistance with the English language, may email SHATitleVI@mdot.maryland.gov in advance of the event.

Please indicate the desired language in the subject line. Maryland Relay Service can assist teletype users at 7-1-1.

Questions about the workshop or general inquiries may be directed to Project Manager Rawaa Al Tameemi at raltameemi@mdot.maryland.gov or District 4 Community Relations Manager Fran Ward at FWard1@mdot.maryland.gov.

The MD 700 project is consistent with the Maryland Department of Transportation’s Complete Streets Policy, which prioritizes safe, reliable, equitable and sustainable travel across all modes to make roads safer and connect Marylanders to jobs, education and economic opportunity. Projects under the Pedestrian Safety Action Plan support Maryland’s Vision Zero goal to eliminate traffic fatalities and severe injuries on state roadways by 2030.

This project also supports the Serious About Safety initiative, a department-wide commitment to advance improvements that drive safety goals and save lives.
