A fire was reported at Perry Hall Elementary School on Tuesday evening and the school has been closed on Wednesday
According to Councilman David Marks, Baltimore County Fire Department informed him that crews were investigating a possible fire in the trash chute.
School Board Member Julie Henn reported a school evening event was taking place at the time of the fire and those guests were safely evacuated.
The fire department later said the incident was under control.
“The threat is/was minimal. The incident commander evacuated as a precaution (standard protocol). The units were investigating to ensure there were no hidden threats. They are clearing now,” the fire departments told Marks in a statement.
