Nick Stewart, a Democratic candidate for Baltimore County Executive, has picked up key endorsements from three prominent Democrats.

Stewart announced in Essex that he has received endorsements for his candidacy from former Baltimore County Executive Jim Smith, former Baltimore County Councilwoman Vicki Almond, and former Baltimore County Councilman Tom Quirk.

The announcement was held on a chilly Monday morning at Renaissance Square.

The Stewart campaign said the endorsements of Smith, Almond and Quirk are “the most significant consolidation of former county leadership behind any candidate in the 2026 race to date.”

Interim County Executive Kathy Klausmeier is not seeking reelection, so there is an open seat for the top position in the county.

Current Councilman Julian Jones, Pat Young  and Izzy Patoka are all giving up their council seats to run for County Executive on the Democratic side.

Patrick V. Dyer and Kimberly Stansbury are the only Republicans to file for County Executive.
