Local races are officially set as filing deadline passes

Early Voting in Baltimore County

The filing deadline has passed and here are the candidates that filed for local offices in eastern Baltimore County for state delegate, state senator, county council and school board.

House of Delegates
District 6 (Dundalk, Essex, Rosedale and Edgemere)
The Republican trio of Delegates Robin Grammer, Bob Long and Ric Metzgar, all filed for reelection. Bobby Al Jolson Berger and Henry Ciezkowski filed to challenge those three on the Republican side.
Artus W. Huffman, Megan Ann Mioduszewski, Rayneika Robinson and Sandra Skordalos have filed on the Democratic side.

District 7A (Perry Hall, White Marsh and Kingsville)
The incumbent Republican delegates Ryan Nawrocki and Kathy Szeliga both filed for reelection.

No Republican challengers filed. Tom Baker, Satish Chapagain,  Ly Xinzhen Brown and Cleveland Reynolds all filed at the last minute for the Democrats in this two-seat district.

District 8 (Middle River, Overlea, Parkville and Rosedale)
This district is a mirror image of District 6 as all three incumbents are seeking reelection, have primary opponents, and the other party also has a primary.

The only difference is this is a Democratic district with the trio of Delegates Nick Allen, Harry Bhandari, and Kim Ross. All three filed for reelection. Kumasi J. Barnett and Marsha Briley-Savage are also in the Democratic primary.

Zulieka A. Baysmore, Brian Campbell, Glen Geelhaar, Steven Riemer and Jacqueline Stevenson are competing in the Republican primary.

State Senate
District 6 (Dundalk, Essex, Rosedale and Edgemere)
Republican State Sen. Johnny Ray Salling is seeking reelection. He will face Daniel Eisenhart on the Republican side. Justin Holiday is the only Democrat to file.

District 7A (Perry Hall, White Marsh, Kingsville and south Harford County)
State Sen. J.B. Jennings is seeking a fifth term and will face Democrat Bill Geibler in November. There is no primary is this district.

District 8 (Middle River, Overlea, Parkville and Rosedale)
The Senate race in this district is very similar. Democrat Sen. Carl Jackson is seeking reelection with no primary opponent and will face Yahu Blackwell, who also has no GOP primary opponent.

County Council
6th District (east Towson, Overlea, Parkville)
Democratic Councilman Mike Ertel is seeking reelection and will face Republican Christine L. Vondersmith in November. No other candidates filed.

7th District (Perry Hall, Kingsville, White Marsh & Carney)
Republican Councilman David Marks also doesn’t have a primary opponent and will face Democrat Caridad “Cari” Santiago in the general election in the fall.

8th District (Essex and Middle River)
The County Council is adding two new districts and is this one of those districts.
Josh Sines is the only Republican to file. The Democratic primary is full with Sharonda Dillard-Huffman, Crystal Cody and Jack Carmody.

9th District (Dundalk, Edgemere and Rosedale)
Although this is the old District 7, it feels like a new district since Incumbent Councilman Todd Crandell is not seeking reelection. The race is crowded with 10 candidates.
The Democratic field has candidates William Barrios, Arkia Wade, Ed Crizer and Mark E. McCluskey in the race.
Tim Fazenbaker, JD Urbach, Russ Mirabile and Jake J. Mohorovic, III are all on the Republican side.
Scott Pappas and Donna Eve Radtke Sekora are each running as  unaffiliated candidates.

Board of Education
5th District (Towson Carney, Perry Hall and Kingsville)
Current school board member Julie Henn is seeking another term and no one filed to run against her.

6th District (Parkville, Overlea and Rosedale)
Christina Pumphrey is seeking another term and will be challenged by Darren Badillo.

7th District (Dundalk, Essex and Edgemere)
Rod McMillion is seeking his third-term and is challenged by Stacy L. McNish.
