Dundalk resident JD Urbach is the first candidate to file for office in the new Baltimore County Councilmanic District 9.
The Baltimore County Council voted to expand its districts from seven to nine for the 2026 Election.
District 9 makes up the Dundalk and Edgemere portion of the old District 7.
Urbach was named 2024 “Dundalk Citizen of the Year” .
The Republican is holding an offical kick off event on Friday, Jan. 9 in Edgemere.
Republican Councilman Todd Crandell would move to this district but there has been speculation that he may not run for reelection.
Dundalk resident Tim Fazenbaker has also talked about running in this district as a Republican.
