BCPS Board of Education has appointed Eastern Tech High School principal C. Michelle Anderson to a new role within Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS).

Anderson is leaving Eastern Tech and will begin her new position effective Monday, Sept. 22.

She has been principal at the Essex high school since 2015.

Eastern Tech has recently named the best school in Maryland by U.S. News & World Report

One of Eastern Tech’s assistant principal Lawrence (Bo) DuVal will serve as the acting principal.

He has been an administrator at the school for the past six years.

Anderson sent out the following statement in an email to the Eastern Tech family on Tuesday night.

“I am writing today to share some important news. Effective September 22, 2025, I will be transitioning to a new role within Baltimore County Public Schools as Executive Director, Middle School Support and Achievement.

“Eastern Tech has been my professional home for the past ten years, and during that time, it has been so much more than a workplace. It has been a place where I’ve built lasting relationships, witnessed incredible accomplishments, and shared in the collective pride that comes from being a Maverick. This community has truly become my family, and it has been a privilege to lead alongside you.

“Together, we have celebrated academic successes, nurtured innovative programs, and supported students in pursuing their passions and goals. Most meaningful to me, though, have been the daily moments, such as seeing students grow in confidence, watching teachers collaborate to support one another, and feeling the strong sense of pride that makes Eastern Tech so special.

“Leaving Eastern Tech is not easy, but I do so knowing that the school is in a strong position to continue thriving. The spirit of this community is rooted in collaboration, high expectations, and care for every student. This foundation will continue to guide the work ahead.

“While I am excited for the opportunities this new role will bring, leaving Eastern Tech is bittersweet. I will always carry with me the pride, spirit, and memories we’ve built together. I look forward to following the continued success of our students, staff, and school community for many years to come. I thank you all so much for your support over the last ten years!”
