NWS Reports Severe Weather in the Region For Today/Tonight

The National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington reported severe weather is expected in the area this afternoon into the evening.

“Numerous showers and strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon and evening, primarily between 1pm and 9pm. The metro areas of Baltimore, Maryland and The District of Columbia will be the focus for possible Flash Flooding,” said a statement from the National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington.

“There is currently a Moderate Risk for the metro areas this afternoon and evening. Rain amounts will average 1 to 2 inches with isolated 4 to 6 inches in areas that receive numerous and training showers and thunderstorms.

“In terms of severe weather, the main threats will be damaging wind gusts. Remember, when encountering flooded roadways, turn around and find an alternate route.”
