Fire Department Reports Silo Rescue in Sparrows Point

Baltimore County Fire Department reported its crews and Baltimore County Volunteer Firefighters Association responded to a 911 call for two men trapped over 100 feet in the air inside a malfunctioning silo elevator in Sparrows Point on Monday morning.

Crews, including volunteers from Middle River Volunteer Fire & Rescue and Bowleys Quarters Volunteer Fire Rescue & Marine, quickly ascended the silo stairs and repelled down to the stranded workers. The team successfully brought both men to safety using harnesses and a rope rescue system. One worker sustained a minor injury.
