confirmed Tueday’s church fire in Dundalk was caused by lightning and released the following statement:
“Fire investigators have confirmed that the early morning 2-alarm fire at St. Rita’s Catholic Church was caused by a lightning strike.
“A detailed review of the fire-damaged area, along with lightning strike data, shows several strikes occurred near the church just before the fire was reported.
“We’re grateful no injuries were reported, and we thank all responding crews for their swift work in protecting this historic community landmark. Additional details here“
