Officer Involved Shooting Reported in Carney

Baltimore County police officers were on the scene of an officer involved shooting in Carney after reports of an armed subject walking in the area of Putty Hill Avenue and Avondale Road.

Officers encountered the armed adult male along MD-43/White Marsh Boulevard between I-695 and Walther Blvd. and one officer discharged his weapon striking the subject.

The subject was transported to an area hospital, with non-life-threatening injuries.

 

No other person was injured during this incident.

 

The Independent Investigations Division of the Office of the Attorney General was consulted. 

A police investigation has determined that the weapon seized from the subject after the encounter was a BB rifle, which resembled a firearm.

The officer involved in this incident was equipped with a body-worn camera.  Per Departmental policy, the involved officer has been put on administrative leave.
