Baltimore County Police reported a 16-year-old has been charged as an adult after an incident at Parkville High School on Friday.
Police responded to the school in the 2600 block of Putty Hill Ave., around 11:30 a.m. after a student ran from administrators who were about to search the student’s book bag.
According to police, the ninth grader left the school and administrators told police they saw the handle of what appeared to be a handgun.
A School Resource Officer, assigned to Parkville High School, immediately took the student into custody and later located an unloaded firearm that had been discarded.
During a secondary search of the area, officers located a discarded magazine.
The student is currently charged with a handgun violation.
