Rescue Reported After Overturned Vessel Near Pooles Island

Marine Emergency Team 26 reported that it crews, along with Marine Unit 269, responded to the area between Pooles Island and Hart-Miller Island for a reported overturned vessel on Sunday July 14.

Units arrived and observed a small recreational vessel overturned with debris floating around it.

According to the reports, crews deployed rescue swimmers to see if any occupants were inside the boat, once the boat was cleared, a search via air, land, and sonar scans were conducted.

It was later determined the two occupants were safe on land after being picked up by another vessel.

Grounds were assisting units and Maryland State Police – Aviation Command assisted with the search from the sky.
