Defenders Day Returns to Fort Howard This Weekend

Defenders’ Day is back at Fort Howard Park but this year’s two-day event is a week early.

It is set for this weekend on Saturday Aug. 23 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Fort Howard Park.

This is the spot where the British landed in 1814.

This event commemorates the Battle of North Point during the War of 1812 between the Americans and the British which was the largest land invasion by a foreign army in United States History.

The Battle of North Point includes a reenactment on Saturday, living history, living history, cooking demonstrations, blacksmithing, War of 1812 medical procedures performed by Dr Shady fellow, fencing instruction by the Calvert Arundel Swordsman, Cricket instruction,. Clothing, music, children’s crafts and games, a magician, walking tours, food trucks, and other demonstrations and Exhibits.
