Sparrows Point and their running game were too much for Chesapeake as the Pointers improved to 3-0 in a 27-6 win at home.
Running back Maynor led Sparrows Point with over 100 yards rushing and broke off a 16-yard touchdown in the first quarter.
That was all the Bayhawks would get as Pointer defenders Brooks Tuohy, Zach Stansburge and Maynor were disrupting Chesapeake’s backfield.
Chesapeake’s offense was shut out through the first three quarters until to quarterback Dakari Noble hit senior Malik Parker on a 75-yard screen pass.
Bayhawk running back Ryan Morales started to pick up yardage in the second half and finished with over 50-yards rushing.
Chesapeake defense kept the game close 7-0 at the half with a sack from Defensive End Joshua Obaloluwa and hard hits from safety Dash Lynch.
Sparrows Point defense finally busted the game open when a defender forced a turnover and it was recovered by Cameron Watkins in the end zone for a Sparrows Point touchdown.
Point quarterback Maceo Hardnett also had key pass plays as he connected with Watkins and tight end Macin McNew. Hardnett scored on a 1-yard touchdown run to put Point up 20-0 early in the fourth quarter.
Chesapeake falls to 1-2.
