Stabbing and Officer-Involved Shooting Reported in Essex

A stabbing and a police involved shooting was reported last night in Essex.

Baltimore County Police responded to reported a disturbance in the 900 block of Holgate Drive on  Wednesday, December 3, at approximately 8:30 p.m.

Officers arrived and encountered an armed male suspect inside the apartment building.

During that encounter, police said several officers discharged their firearms in response to the male subject’s actions, striking him.

An adult female was later found in the apartment suffering from apparent stab wounds.

According to police, officers rendered aid to both the adult female and adult male prior to them being transported to a nearby hospital, where the male was later pronounced deceased.

It was also reported one officer suffered an injury during the encounter and was sent to an area hospital.

All officers were wearing body worn cameras. Per Department policy, the officers involved have been placed on routine administrative leave.

The Independent Investigations Division of the Office of the Attorney General is investigating the circumstances surrounding the officer-involved shooting.

Detectives from the Baltimore County Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit will be conducting an investigation into the stabbing.
