Maryland Department of Transportation Authority gave an update on the Key Bridge demolition and they reported side removal is complete on both the north and south sides.

That includes 70,000+ linear feet of concrete sawcuts completed, 24,000+ cubic yards of bridge concrete removed and recycled, 10,000+ cubic yards of piers demolished and 175 girders removed and recycled

The remaining piers in the water will stay in place as they do not impact the new bridge alignment, now 260 feet to the east,” MDOT said in a social media post.

“Those piers will be demolished as part of phase 2 of the project at a later time.”
