Phillip DePalo is out of the County Council race in District 8 (Essex, Middle River & White Marsh) and endorsed fellow Republican Josh Sines.
DePalo officially withdrew from the race on Thursday at the Board of Elections.
He had already released a statement on his support of Sines last week.
“After careful consideration of the needs of our community and the future of District 8, I have decided to suspend my campaign for County Council. While my commitment to our neighborhoods remains as strong as ever, I believe the best way for me to serve Middle River and Bowleys Quarters right now is by throwing my full support behind Josh Sines.
“Josh and I share a vision for a transparent, fiscally responsible, and community-first County Council. Having met with him to discuss the challenges facing our district—from responsible land use to infrastructure—I am confident he is the leader we need to move us forward,” DePalo wrote.
“I look forward to staying actively involved in our local governance and working alongside Josh to ensure our voices are heard at the courthouse. I encourage my supporters to join me in voting for Josh Sines.”
With DePalo’s withdraw, Sines is now the only Republican in the race with the filing deadline set for next week.
The Democratic side has Sharonda Dillard-Huffman, Jack Carmody and Crystal Cody in the race.
