Officials support SHA analysis for Harford Rd pedestrian death

The elected officials who represent the Harford Road corridor are supporting an analysis by the Maryland State Highway Administration after the tragic death of a pedestrian on Feb. 5.

Claudine Myers, Metropolitan District Engineer for the Maryland State Highway Administration, wrote that “the loss of life on the 9500 block of Harford Road is tragic, and I want to begin by expressing sincere condolences to the victim’s family and to everyone in the community affected by this crash. No pedestrian death is acceptable.  The SHA Traffic Team will perform an analysis of the existing crossing.   The analysis will take up to 90 days to complete, and we will follow up with you on the findings at that time.”

The analysis is supported by Senator Carl Jackson, Delegates Nick Allen, Harry Bhandari, and Kim Ross, and Baltimore County Councilman David Marks.

“Any loss of life is terrible, and we support whatever measures can be taken to identify steps that can improve safety along the Harford Road corridor,” commented Senator Jackson.

“We thank the Maryland State Highway Administration for its speedy review,” added Councilman Marks.  “We look to sharing any recommendations with surrounding residents and community associations.”
