Arkia Wade Announces Candidacy for Baltimore County Council

Community advocate and nonprofit leader Arkia Wade is officially announcing her candidacy for Baltimore County Council, District 9 next week.

The Democratic candidate is running in the new District 9, which encompasses Dundalk, Edgemere and Rosedale.

Wade said she has deep family roots in Dundalk, where her grandparents moved in the 1940s and lived for the rest of their lives, and where she has proudly lived since 2012 after spending much of her childhood visiting them in the community.

“I’m running for County Council because we deserve elected oficials that deliver real results,”  Wade said.

“As your councilwoman, I will ensure that the hardworking families of District 9 have the resources and support to thrive.”

According to Wade, she has spent years working alongside residents, seniors, youth, and families in communities like Turner Station and Dundalk.

Gloria Nelson, President of the Turner Station ConservationTeams Inc., said Wade is an asset to the community.

“Arkia Wade has demonstrated a strong commitment to community service. Her dedication to
strengthening neighborhoods and ensuring residents have a voice is the kind of leadership our
communities in District 9 needs”,

Wade will host a campaign fundraiser and kickoff event: Campaign Launch & Fundraiser on Monday, March 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bay View Sports Bar and Grill, 601 Wise Avenue in Dundalk.

With the retirement of Councilman Todd Crandell and the expansion of the County Council, this district has an open seat.
