Councilman David Marks and leaders from Plumbers and Steamfitters UA Local 486 toured the site of a future training center that will be located at 5811 Allender Road in White Marsh on Monday.
They were joined by Josh Sines, president of the Essex-Middle River Civic Council.
Construction is set to start soon on the training center that will replace the derelict Freestate Arena.
“The Plumbers and Steamfitters UA Local 486 has provided highly trained and qualified licensed journeymen in the HVAC and Plumbing field for over 120 years to our signatory contractors to serve the State of Maryland. We are very excited to have the opportunity to expand our training program with a new facility in White Marsh, and we are grateful for the leadership of Councilman Marks and the support of the entire Baltimore County Council,” said Pasquale Petrovia, the union’s business manager.”
Marks said the center was made possible through his legislation.
“This is exactly the type of campus we need in eastern Baltimore County,” commented Councilman Marks.
“Baltimore County needs to develop public-private partnerships that elevate our workforce. I’m proud we will be repurposing this derelict property into a state-of-the-art training facility, and right here in White Marsh.”
Construction is expected to begin in force later in 2026.
