Eastern Tech baseball defeats rival Perry Hall 7-2

Eastern Tech baseball completed a sweep of Perry Hall this season after a 7-2 home win on Friday. The Mavericks defeated the Gators in Perry Hall on March 24.

“Many of our players have faced the Perry Hall kids since childhood, making this matchup both a heated rivalry and a nostalgic reunion,” Eastern Tech baseball coach Tyler  Whittaker said after the game.

Eastern Tech used two triples by Paul Hester as he had three hits on the afternoon.

The Mavericks were also led by Rob Peterson’s bat and Nate Noyes had two hits and two RBIs.

Noyes was also dangerous on the base paths as he had two of the four Eastern Tech stolen bases.

That is all Eastern Tech pitcher Issac Strittmatter needed. The Maverick right hander pitched seven innings and allowed two runs and recorded three strikeouts.

The game in Essex went through a rain delay with Tech leading 2-1.

Eastern Tech added at least one run in each inning after the break until the sixth inning.

Gator senior Kade Gibson got a hit in the top of second and scored after a Logan Winkler hit.

Winkler led Perry Hall with three hits.

Perry Hall starter Gavin Rayner pitched four and two-thirds innings and had four strikeouts in the loss.

After a tough loss to Dulaney, Whittaker is impressed with his team’s resilience after big wins over Towson and Perry Hall as the playoffs start in less than two weeks.

“We often say we don’t play for March; we play for May. Our regular season has prepared us for this,” Whittaker added. “Now it is time for big-time players to show up in big-time spots.”
