Baltimore County Police announced that Officer P. Catalfamo was released from Shock Trauma Center on Wednesday night.
This was 10 days after he was injured in after a shooting on June 7. Baltimore County Police released the following statement:
The Baltimore County Police Department is pleased to share that Officer P. Catalfamo has been released from the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland Medical Center, where he had been receiving treatment after being injured in the line of duty earlier this month.
Officer Catalfamo was critically injured after being shot on June 7, 2026, while responding to a call for service along the Milford Mill Gwynn Falls Trail off Milford Mill Road.
Since then, Officer Catalfamo has demonstrated remarkable strength, determination, and resilience. Those qualities come as no surprise to the people who know him best.
Fellow officers who attended the academy with Officer Catalfamo describe him as someone with a contagious smile, a positive attitude, and an unwavering willingness to support others.
“His positive attitude is infectious, and the way he has faced this challenge has been nothing short of inspirational,” said one officer.
“The same strength and character he showed in the academy are the same qualities carrying him through his recovery. I am proud to call him a friend and brother.”
According to family members, Officer Catalfamo was active in the Boy Scouts growing up and carried many of those lessons and values into adulthood and his career as a police officer.
Service, leadership, integrity, and helping others have remained a central part of who he is. Loved ones also point to his strong work ethic as one of the qualities for which he is best known.
Surrounded by family members and fellow officers who lined the halls of Shock Trauma, Officer Catalfamo was released from the hospital on Wednesday evening.
