The Baltimore County Board of Elections certified the primary results and Sarah David officially defeated five-term Baltimore County State’s Attorney Scott Shellenberger in the Democratic primary.
David won with 45,988 votes (53.79 percent) to Shellenberger’s 22,680 (26.53 pecent). Lauren Lipscomb was another candidate that finished third in the race with 16,828 votes (19.68 percent).
Shellenberger sent out a statement congratulating David on Tuesday
“I would like to congratulate Sarah David on winning the Democratic nomination for State’s Attorney for Baltimore County. It has been a privilege and an honor to be the state’s attorney for what will be 20 years,” Shellenberger wrote.
“Over the next six months, I will continue to lead the office and keep the citizens of Baltimore County safe. I will also concentrate on assuring a smooth and seamless transition so that Ms. David will be well positioned when her term begins.”
