The National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington reported a tornado was confirmed at the Seagirt Marine Terminal in the Port of Baltimore and in Dundalk on Monday.
According to the report, it started on Monday afternoon when a line of severe thunderstorms moved into the area . The line interacted with the bay breeze, causing a brief waterspout on the Patapsco River and subsequent tornado at the Seagirt Marine Terminal in the Port of Baltimore and Dundalk.
As the waterspout moved onshore, it became tornadic, and continued east-northeast toward Broening Highway where a large hardwood tree was uprooted and another hardwood tree was snapped.
The tornado crossed Colgate Creek and a power pole was snapped along Ralls Avenue just east of Colgate Creek.
The tornado continued to track east-northeast and a vehicle was displaced around Sollers Point Road in Dundalk.
A tree was also uprooted in this area and an awning was ripped off an apartment as well. The tornado dissipated around this area.
The tornado was an EF-0 Estimated Peak Wind: 65 mph around 4:39 p.m.
Baltimore County Executive Klausmeier released a statement about the tornado
“The National Weather Service has confirmed that Monday’s severe weather included an EF-0 tornado that began as a waterspout over the Patapsco River before coming ashore and moving through portions of Dundalk,” Klausmeier said.
“We are grateful that there were no reports of injuries, and I want to thank our first responders, emergency management teams and Department of Public Works and Transportation crews who responded quickly during and after the storm.”
