Volunteers from the Back River Restoration Committee took and released their latest water-sampling results from around the area on Aug. 11.
“Samples collected at Eastern Avenue Bridge and the Wastewater Treatment Plant sampling location exceeded the 235 MPN single-sample E. coli threshold. Eastern Avenue Bridge also exceeded the threshold on August 4. The remaining locations tested below the single-sample threshold on their respective testing dates,” said a statement from the BRRC.
“These results represent conditions when each sample was collected and can change quickly, especially following rainfall.”
They warned everyone not to swim in those areas within 48 hours of heavy rain and to use extra caution around locations with elevated results.
“We will continue testing and sharing the results so our community can see how water quality changes across Back River,” BRRC said.
