Baltimore County Councilman David Marks and Board of Education Member Julie Henn announced today that the air conditioning improvements at Perry Hall Elementary School are expected to be completed by the first day of school.
The new cooling units were installed in the cafeteria and gymnasium..
A decade ago, more than a dozen public schools in northeastern Baltimore County lacked air conditioning.
Today, all classroom space is air conditioned, but there are still some areas that need cooling.
“I would like to thank County Executive Kathy Klausmeier, School Superintendent Dr. Bill Heiser, and our Board of Education and state legislators for all working on these improvements,” Councilman Marks commented.
“Perry Hall Elementary School is one of the oldest public schools in northeastern Baltimore County, so this is an important milestone.”
District 5 Board Member Julie Henn commented, “Every student and educator deserves a learning environment where they can focus on teaching and learning, and completing the air conditioning upgrades at Perry Hall Elementary is an important investment in both. I’m grateful to Councilman Marks for his continued advocacy for our schools and to everyone who helped move this project across the finish line in time for the new school year. This is what strong partnership between county government and our school system can accomplish for students.”
“Our office is supporting improvements to this school, one of Perry Hall’s oldest,” added Senator Carl Jackson.
“We will continue to work with Delegates Allen, Bhandari, Ross, and County Executive Klausmeier and Councilman Marks, to improve and advance all or schools.”
The elected officials also thanked Principal Ronesha Thompson and her staff, as well as the Perry Hall Elementary School PTA, for their advocacy and involvement.
