Edwin A. Pérez, a Spanish teacher at Perry Hall High School, has been selected to serve as 2026–2027 Global Learning Fellows with The NEA Foundation. Dr. Kelli Hickey, classroom teacher and equity liaison, Stoneleigh Elementary was also selected.
Chosen from a highly competitive national pool, Hickey and Pérez will represent Baltimore County Public Schools among a cohort of 50 educators from 41 NEA state affiliates.
The fellowship selection panel recognized Hickey and Pérez for their dedication to advancing global competency, civic engagement, and equity across schools and communities.
Over the next year, Pérez will engage in specialized coursework, national collaboration, and a 10-day international field study in Perú.
“We look forward to bringing back impactful cross-cultural curriculum strategies to our classrooms and sharing these insights,
resources, and experiences with the entire BCPS community,” Pérez said.
