Election season is slowly starting to get into full swing as we are only 50 days away from the General Election.
In the District 8 House of Delegates races, Republican candidate Brian Campbell posted a sample ballot of who to vote for in the District 8 race.
Voters can choose up to three candidates and the ballot listed all six candidates (3 Democrats and 3 Republicans) in the District 8 House race.
This graphic shared by Campbell’s campaign showed a vote for only Campbell and there no vote for the other two Republicans Glen Geelhaar and Steve Riemer. Campbell’s graphic posted on social media is below.
A member of the Baltimore County Republican Central Committee called out Campbell for not including his two Republican running mates.
“Please do this again and encourage team work,” said the BCRCC member.
It was telling that Campbell’s graphic showed Geelhaar and Riemer names but didn’t give them a vote.
Every candidate wants to individually get elected, but not working as a team could hurt individual candidates.
If a voter is only asked to only vote for one candidate, that voter (or voters) could use their other two votes on candidates on the opposite party (Campbell’s Democratic opponents).
That could be hurtful to his campaign in the long run by potentially giving his Democratic opponents votes.
Is Campbell’s lack of support for his Republican colleagues payback from the primary?
There were five Republicans battling it out for the three nominations in District 8. The unopposed District 8 state Senate Republican nominee Yaku Blackwell formed a primary ticket with Geelhaar, Riemer and Jacqueline Stevenson.
Campbell didn’t only finish ahead of Stevenson, he garnered the most votes in the Republican primary.
Since he wasn’t part of the team in June, has Campbell decided to remain solo in November?
District 8 Democrats endorse Christina Pumphrey for school board
Speaking of District 8, the Democratic side and current incumbents Senator Carl Jackson and Delegates Nick Allen, Harry Bhandari, and Kim Ross announced they are endorsing incumbent school board member Christina Pumphrey for her reelection bid in District 6 School Board (Towson, Parkville, Middle River and Rosedale) race.
Although the school board is considered nonpartisan, Pumphrey appears to align with the Democratic agenda and her opponent Darren Badillo appears to aling with the Republican agenda.
It will be interesting to see if any of the local elected Republicans will endorse Badillo.(If they haven’t done so already). This race between
Pumphrey and Badillo should be a interesting race to watch.
Marks picks up another endorsement
The campaign of Councilman David Marks announced the Baltimore County Federation of Public Employees Local 4883 has endorsed the four-term councilman for reelection to the Baltimore County Council.
“I am honored to receive the support of so many organizations that represent the spectrum of public employees in Baltimore County,” Marks said. “I would like to thank all the workers of BCPFE for the service they provide to the citizens of Baltimore County.”
