Maryland Gov. Wes Moore, Baltimore County Executive Klausmeier and other federal, state, and local officials broke ground on Tradepoint Atlantic’s new Sparrows Point Container Terminal.
The 168-acre container terminal and on-dock rail facility is located at Coke Point and proximity to major East Coast markets. It help Baltimore’s competitiveness as a global logistics hub
This historic $1.2 billion private investment will handle more than one million containers annually, accommodate two ultra-large container vessels simultaneously, feature seven ship-to-shore cranes, and bring an estimated 8,000 new jobs to the area.
This project will provide long-term economic opportunities for residents.
“Progress doesn’t just happen, progress is made to happen. Today at Sparrows Point, we mark the next chapter in the Port of Baltimore’s success story – for our workers, for our state, and for our nation,” Governor Wes Moore said at the Friday event.
