Councilman David Marks announced a new digital speed sign is now active in Carney on East Joppa Road near Simms Avenue.
“I thank the Baltimore County Department of Public Works and Transportation for working with my office and area residents on this project,” said in a statement.
“The sign flashes a speed. It doesn’t collect tickets – speed cameras are only allowed near schools and in work zones, by Maryland law.”
Joppa Road is a heavily traveled route where measures like speed bumps are impractical and not allowed under federal standards. Hopefully, the sign will remind drivers of their behavior.
