Dundalk Renaissance Corporation released a letter to the public stating they are “facing serious financial and organizational challenges” and are working on a new plan.
The DRC started in 2001 and according to its website, “Dundalk Renaissance is a 501(c)3 nonprofit community development organization. We are a certified HUD certified Housing and Financial Counseling agency, certified Maryland Main Street and a Community Housing Development Organization.”
The DRC has received both praise and criticism over the past two decades.
Here is their letter.
Dear Valued Community Stakeholders,
The Dundalk Renaissance Corporation is facing serious financial and organizational challenges, and the Board of Directors wanted to communicate directly with you about our plans. We are actively assessing the options for moving forward and are committed to our mission to address the needs of our community and improve the quality of life in Dundalk.
In this time of uncertainty, we find ourselves reminded of the strength of the word “community.” We are beyond grateful for the support and flexibility from our funders and partners, who in less than a few weeks have begun taking proactive steps to re-establish stability at DRC. Their dedication and commitment to our shared mission fuel our hope for the future.
Our board continues to assess the situation with diligence and care. We are developing a thoughtful, strategic plan for the future, and we remain committed to transparency and accountability every step of the way. Our funders and creditors are working hand-in-hand with us as we navigate this difficult terrain.
In an effort to guide the organization through this crisis, we have hired a consultant to help us navigate our next steps, and are receiving technical assistance from Maryland Nonprofits to steer us toward recovery.
The mission of DRC, to mobilize stakeholders to invest in Greater Dundalk’s neighborhoods, economy, and quality of life, remains more critical than ever. We are determined to see this mission through, and we firmly believe that with patience and perseverance, we will come out stronger.
As part of our path forward, our plan includes gradually ramping up operations once stability is re-established, starting with hiring a full-time Executive Director, followed by reintegrating our Main Street Manager and Housing Initiatives Manager
We are committed to DRC’s recovery and revitalization. The resilience of our community, and your belief in the future of Dundalk, give us hope. With your continued support, we are confident that DRC will revive stronger and more prepared to fulfill its mission. Thank you for standing by us during this difficult time. If you have any questions, please email
With gratitude and hope,
The Dundalk Renaissance Corporation Board of Directors
