Wharf Road Reopens in Sparrows Point

The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration and Tradepoint Atlantic on Wharf Road (MD 151B) reopened on June 20.

The road was closed between MD 158 (Bethlehem Boulevard) and the ramp to MD 151 (Sparrows Point Boulevard) on June 5.

This temporary road closure allowed a Tradepoint Atlantic contractor to replace a traffic signal pole and concrete foundation in the median of MD 158 at Wharf Road. The signal controls traffic movements on MD 158 and Wharf Road. Tradepoint Atlantic and its contractor, R.E. Pierson of Pilesgrove, N.J., performed improvements along eastbound MD 158 as part of an ongoing site development plan. MD

The section of southbound Wharf Road between the ramp and the MD 151 bridge over Wharf Road remains closed as part of construction for the State Highway Administration’s bridge replacement project.

The MD 151 bridge over Wharf Road will remain open, with one lane open in each direction. Wharf Road under the MD 151 bridge remains closed during construction.

Weather permitting, the bridge replacement project is expected to be completed by spring 2024.
